Final Speaking Presentation!

Pt. 1: Introduction
Bonjour je m'appelle ___________
et voici ma critique pour le film __________ (name of movie)
C'est un ___________ (genre).

Pt. 2: Critique
Choose 5-6: elements to critique- a mix! Talk about the dialogue or special effects or voiceovers, or soundtrack... whatever you want! This should be in the passé composé - if you would like, you can use imparfait instead of passé composé for être : était instead of a été, étaient instead of ont été.
>> Must include at least 1 negative structure (can include format learned, "MAIS...")
>> Can use 1 expression from the matching sheet (your whole presentation should not be made from that sheet.)
** This does not have to be a super long 10 minute critique! 5-6 sentences, using vocabulary and structures we've studied!! I would recommend adding a "parce que" or two, just to make it a true critique. Come and see me if you are having trouble with this! I want to see what you know and what you have learned from this unit. **

Pt. 3: Conclusion
Choose 1:
Je suis parti(e) avant la fin du film (negative critique)
Je suis tombé(e) amoureuse(eux) de ... ce film/la musique/l'histoire... etc. (positive critique)

J'ai donné ___#1-5___ étoiles à ______. (name of movie).

------------

Due Monday, June 19th

Movies to critique:
You were given a number from 1- 5, here are the movies that correspond:

Tuesday, 13 June 2017

- Entrevue Flash (make sure you are practicing at home as well, and using the time I give you in class)

- We finished the Everything Everything reading (with a few comprehension questions)

- Negative activity (Simon Cowell)

- A/B speaking activity using movie posters. Partner A says something positive, partner B says the same thing in a negative way. Switching roles. Then we did a kind of 'game' where you took turns making each other's sentences negative, and adding new sentence- first one to give up/not think of something loses!

e.g.
A: J'ai adoré les personnages.
B: Je n'ai pas adoré les personnages, mais, j'ai apprécié les effets spéciaux.
A: Je n'ai pas apprécié les effets spéciaux, mais, j'ai aimé la bande sonore.

- We watched 2 trailers and critiqued them.
"2 days, 1 night" (French movie starring Marion Cotillard!)
"Ernest et Célestine"

Monday, 12 June 2017

Aujourd'hui
- Entrevue Flash: Attention: Je préfère (not je préférer)
- We played a few more round of "Les indices"
- Read more of the Everything Everything critique (last paragraph for homework)
- Handed back p.c. être test

Friday, 9 June 2017

You had some time to practice Entrevue Flash (your final assessment for Entrevue Flash will be the 22nd and 23rd of June)

We watched the trailer from yesterday, "Everything Everything" ("Absolument tout" en français) and using our reading skills, we read the first three paragraphs of a critique on the movie. We will continue this next week.

Questions:
1. What is the paragraph about? (theme, characters, acting, cinematography...)
2. Is is a positive critique? A negative critique? Both?
3. Evidence! (How do you know that it is positive/negative? Any key words?)

We then played the "les indices" game- most classes only had time for one round, so we will continue this next week.

Wednesday, 7 June 2017

Today we...
- shared our être houses
- practiced conjugating with être
- entrevue flash

You have a quiz tomorrow on passé composé être
*reminders:
- aux + pp (you need both!)
- pp needs agreement with subject!
- be careful of irregular verbs!

Devoirs: Duolingo, study/practice for quiz, être house will be collected tomorrow.

Tuesday, 6 June 2017

Aujourd'hui

1. We re-played the Kahoot from the beginning- you all did a lot better after having worked on your être house!

2. We did more practice conjugating with être (making sure to add agreement!) and then deciding whether to use être or avoir when conjugating in a variety of cases.
"Is it in your être house?"
- si oui, on utilise ÊTRE (don't forget agreement!)
- si non, on utilise AVOIR (no agreement!)
* remember, most verbs use avoir

3. I handed back your avoir passé composé quiz. We went over the answers together. If you did poorly, and feel like you now know how to conjugate passé composé after having more practice- come and see me! You can show me that you know it!

4. I handed back your reading test on La La Land (the critique.) If you would like to go over the answers using the text, come and see me and we can go over it together.

5. You had the rest of the class to work on your être houses. Use the previous 2 posts to help you.
*Don't forget the AUX+PP, and AGREEMENT

À REMETTRE DEMAIN (due tomorrow)

Agreement = adding e/s if the subject is fem/plural

Devoirs: We will be doing more practice of our own critiques tomorrow, so review some of the vocabulary + Duolingo + Être house finish

Answers under the cut

Monday, 5 June 2017

Être house (reminders)
 - must include all verbs
- visual representation of all verbs (e.g. tomber = have a person falling) **please be classroom appropriate.** I am not marking you on your drawings, but I will be looking to see that your drawings represent what the verbs mean.
- write sentences for each verb in the passé composé (être) on the back. Should represent what is happening on the front. (don’t forget agreement!) e.g. Dora est tombée
 - Theme should be movie/tv show themed, BE CREATIVE! The sillier you are, the more likely you are to remember the verbs. This is a memory aid for you!
- Colour: it is not a requirement that your être house be completely coloured in, but it should have some visual interest (so that elements stand out)

Due date: Wednesday. (You will have some time on Tuesday to work on it- please plan your work out accordingly)
