What competition you'll be participating in, cultural details, questions and answers themselves... if you want to include stamps and stickers (like a real passport!) you can do that as well.

Today we practiced the negative again (answering questions) Reminders:
** don't forget that un/une/des/du/de la (+de l') all become DE when answering in the negative
** don't forget that the ne... pas goes around FIRST verb ONLY
** don't forget that ne...pas / ne... jamais / ne... rien / ne... plus all work the same way, they just mean different things.
** don't forget that when answering a question asked of you, you need to use JE and conjugate the verbs accordingly.
e.g. est-ce que vous allez voir le film? Non, je ne vais pas voir le film.
(aller conjugation: vous = allez, je = vais) You will have a quiz on this tomorrow! It will include: - regular verbs - irregular verbs that are in your present tense package Questions will be asked using VOUS. You will only be answering with JE, and all of your answers will be in the negative. Review your present tense notes as well as your notes on the negative.
(Answers under the cut)
------- - I explained the interview (partner) project expectations:
> You will be interviewing an artist or athlete at Les Jeux de la Francophonie (Côte d'Ivoire)
> You will also be creating a persona, and be interviewed.
> You will be representing a participating country (list to be given)
> Interview Questions: Present / Futur Proche, 3 types of questions (Inversion, Intonation, Est-ce que), Question words (Combien, Pourquoi, Quand...), Relate to the person being interviewed (e.g. athlete being asked about sports), 1 or 2 questions that relates to the person's country (e.g. food/climate/languages... etc.), use VOUS
> Interview Answers: Present/Futur Proche, positively (oui) and negatively (non), please respond in complete sentences, use JE, varied vocabulary
> Each interview should last 1 minute
> You will be getting a speaking mark for this.
> It must be in video format: this will give you more of an opportunity to practice, re-do takes, still "present" in front of the class, but not live!
Some options for the video:
Interview question written on screen with voice-over, then cut to person being interviewed
Interview question said live by interviewer, then cut to person being interviewed
I do not recommend a "live interview"
This is where you set-up a trip-pod and both speak back and forth.
The sound/quality tends to be better in the two examples described above,
and it will be easier to re-do takes if one of you makes a mistake.
HOWEVER, if your heart is set on a live interview and you can make it work...
go for it!
If you have another interview style that you want to try/suggest, just ask me about it :)
> due date: TUESDAY APRIL 4th.
* Thursday: be assigned partner/create your persona/pick country/work on passport.
* Friday: figure out questions and answers, write them all down, put through BonPatron, ask for help, practice.
* Monday: Filming/add finishing touches. I have requested the iPads, but if possible, I also ask that one of you finds an app that you like for movie-making on your phone. Splice is a good free application.
-------
We spent the rest of the class looking at the artistic expressions, doing a reading exercise together, and watched this video (we saw this at the beginning of March).
HW: Duolingo, studying for the negative quiz (+review present tense), project: start thinking about who your persona is going to be, what you want to "do" at the games! Have a couple options (as I don't want you and your partner to both be the same thing)
Optional extra homework questions: Answer in the negative
1. Aimez-vous le soleil?
2. Est-ce que vous pouvez faire du ski?
3. Avez-vous un passeport?
4. Vous allez aller à Tokyo?
5. Détestez-vous les chiens?
We finished the listening/vocabulary activity with the music video from yesterday.
We looked at the negative, completed this worksheet, and played a Kahoot.
Some reminders learned today:
-To sound more French, when speaking, you can take away the "e" from "ne"
-Pronunciation of "regardes" vs. "regarder / regardé"
-When answering a question, make sure you're answering using the right subject- this will change the conjugation of the verbs!
e.g. (notice the conjugation of "aimer")
Q: Est-ce que tu aimes les chats?
A: Non, je n'aime pas les chats
HW: Duolingo 10XP
Monday, 27 March 2017
We reviewed the Futur Proche and you all said if you had done what you wrote down
(Oui, j'ai fait ça / Non, je n'ai pas fait ça)
We did a listening activity with this song:
TAL: Le temps qu'il faut
We will continue this tomorrow!
Friday, 10 March 2017
Aujourd'hui
- We went over the answers to the reading and listening activities from yesterday (see under the cut)
- We reviewed the Futur Proche: something you are GOING to do in the near future
Aller (Prés) + Infinitive (-ER, -RE, -IR)
e.g. Je vaismanger une pomme
You wrote sentences about your SPRING BREAK!!! (Les vacances de printemps) using some words to connect the sentences together.
Premièrement (firstly)
Ensuite (then)
Puis (then)
Après (after)
Finalement (finally)
You drew pictures for each sentence, then presented them in a mix-n-mingle scenario (walking around the room to the music, stopping and talking to different people in the class)
BONNES VACANCES!
Reminder: Duolingo is not required over the break! Rest up, be safe, have fun!
You had your listening test today (based on "Les Jeux de la Francophonie" info we've looked at)- you listened to an interview and answered questions on it.
We practiced your speaking presentations- you will be doing them tomorrow! Please practice both parts, as you will be switching roles. See rubric above for what I will be looking for.
Tuesday, 7 March 2017
We did an "On voyage" person BINGO! With some new and learned vocabulary (including some of the irregular verbs learned last class: vouloir/pouvoir/devoir)- we reviewed a concept from Grade 8: modals/helper verbs.
Helper verb (conjugated in the present tense) + Infinitive (full form the verb: -ER, -RE, -IR)
Je veuxvoyager en Europe
Je peuxaller en voiture
We then learned about "Les Jeux de la Francophonie!"
We listened to an interview (practice), you will have a real listening assessment tomorrow based on learned vocab this unit.
- You had your present tense quiz (regular verbs: -er, -re, -ir)
- We did a little reading activity, paired with a scavenger hunt using 360cities
- You used http://la-conjugaison.nouvelobs.com to fill in your present tense sheet (irregular verbs) and you completed the following questions:
1. Je (avoir) une idée
2. Tu (aller) au cinéma
3. Vous (être) gentils!
4. Nous (devoir) faire nos devoirs.
5. Elles (pouvoir) danser
6. On (faire) des biscuits
7. Sally (vouloir) aller à l'école
You will have a quiz on REGULAR verbs (ones that follow the rules) next class.
HW: Étudiez! (Study!) and Duolingo

I collected more work habit sheets (please return these to me!)
We continued the speaking activity from last day! Lots of practice.
We finished the class with a short review of the Present tense.
We will continue this tomorrow.
