- Today we did some more street style descriptions! We went over some possible answers to #3/#4 (from previous post)

- I highlighted that some colours (fruit/rocks+gems) are invariable, meaning, they don't agree with the noun- they stay the same. e.g. orange, marron, cérise

- We listening to this song and described the outfits.

un noeud papillon - bowtie
un smoking - a tuxedo

1. We voted on t-shirt designs today. Félicitations to the winners!

2. We practiced writing street style descriptions! We went over 1. and 2. together, please complete 3. and 4. for homework.

*Colours need to agree with object it is describing, fabrics/patters do not, as they have a preposition (en/à)

e.g. une jupe noire (adding e because jupe is feminine)
une jupe à pois (pois does not change)

Il/Elle a l'air https://quizlet.com/203090814/ilelle-a-lair-flash-cards/
Il/Elle a besoin de https://quizlet.com/139475814/les-vetements-flash-cards/

Today we reviewed expressions that use avoir! (see Quizlet)

We listened to this song:

You did these exercises (answers under the cut)

A find your partner activity using slips of paper with images in a certain order:
 “As-tu….”
 “Oui, j’ai…” ou “Non, je n’ai pas…”

e.g.
“As-tu faim” “Oui, j’ai faim” ou “Non, je n’ai pas faim” "Merci, au revoir!"

I am pushing the avoir expressions quiz to Thursday
- know avoir conjugation (present) = j’ai, tu as, il/elle/on a, nous avons…
- know what they mean!
Reminder: avoir needs to be conjugated with the subject, but the rest of the expression has no agreement with the subject!
e.g. Nous avons faim (correct!) Nous avons faims (incorrect!)
Elles ont froid (correct!) Elles ont froides (incorrect!)

You had some time to look at new vocabulary: https://quizlet.com/83835135/les-tissus-matieres-materials-design-de-t-shirt-flash-cards/

Devoirs: Duolingo

Monday, 10 April 2017

We did some activities around the movie "Paris à tout prix" (present tense, negative, reading comprehension- question words, asking questions, prepositions)

I gave you a new goal setting sheet for this unit with the grammar points we will be exploring!

You learned avoir expressions!
Some expressions in French take avoir, making it hard to translate!
e.g. J'ai froid = I'm cold (literally: I have cold)

Friday, 7 April 2017

We finished watching the movie "Paris à tout prix"
You compared and contrasted it to the movie "Né quelque part"
in a Venn diagram, and expressed which one you liked better.

We will be doing an activity with the movie next week.

Devoirs: Duolingo

Bon weekend!

Thursday, 6 April 2017

We finished watching the presentations today. If you have not uploaded your video to YouTube, please do so by FRIDAY at the latest. If you have already uploaded the video- please do not remove it. I want to finish marking them and possibly keep some as examples for next year!

We did Entrevue Flash

You reflected on the following:
How do you feel about entrevue flash compared to the beginning of the semester?
- 1 thing you are happy about
- 1 thing you need to work on
(ABOUT ENTREVUE FLASH)

We reviewed the difference between préférer -verb and préféré(e)(s) -adj
Je préfère les fleurs (préférer)
Ma fleur préférée est…. (adj)

We started the movie:
> You looked at the movie poster and made some guesses about the characters and the plot
> We watched ~30 minutes of the movie

This film bridges the units together: La Francophonie + La Mode

You will compare this movie to "Né Quelque part" and complete some activities on it.

Devoirs: Duolingo

Wednesday, 5 April 2017

> We listened to the presentations today
> You finished your passports
> You filled in the bottom of the feedback frame (and handed it in)
> Then we looked at some clothing vocabulary, as the next unit is on LA MODE!

Devoirs: Duolingo

Monday, 3 April 2017

The interview (partner) project expectations:

The interview (partner) project expectations:
> You will be interviewing an artist or athlete at Les Jeux de la Francophonie (Côte d'Ivoire)
> You will also be creating a persona, and be interviewed.
> You will be representing a participating country

Interview Questions
*Present / Futur Proche
*3 types of questions (Inversion, Intonation, Est-ce que)
*Question words (Combien, Pourquoi, Quand...)
*Relate to the person being interviewed (e.g. athlete being asked about sports)
*1 or  2 questions that relates to the person's country (e.g. food/climate/languages... etc.)
*use VOUS

Interview Answers
*Present/Futur Proche
*Positively (oui) and negatively (non)
*Please respond in complete sentences
*use JE
*varied vocabulary

You are showing me what you know and have learned this unit. This is why we are avoiding the past tense (you will learn that later this semester!)

> Each interview should last 1 minute
> You will be getting a speaking mark for this.
> It must be in video format: this will give you more of an opportunity to practice, re-do takes, still "present" in front of the class, but not live!

Some options for the video:
Interview question written on screen with voice-over, then cut to person being interviewed

Interview question said live by interviewer, then cut to person being interviewed

I do not recommend a "live interview"
This is where you set-up a trip-pod and both speak back and forth.
The sound/quality tends to be better in the two examples described above,
and it will be easier to re-do takes if one of you makes a mistake.
HOWEVER, if your heart is set on a live interview and you can make it work...
go for it!

If you have another interview style that you want to try/suggest, just ask me about it :)

> updated due date: WEDNESDAY APRIL 5th.
* Thursday: be assigned partner/create your persona/pick country/work on passport.
* Friday: figure out questions and answers, write them all down, put through BonPatron, ask for help, practice.
* Monday: Finish questions/answers, begin filming.
* Tuesday: Finish filming, edit it, upload to class YouTube account (info to be given)
